Thought I’d experiment with a little video message today.
The question really is - how broken does the system need to be before any big changes are made?
I get really inspired by stories coming out of individual schools around how they are adapting and evolving and I have a massive amount of respect for educators - they do not get paid enough for the work they do in such a dynamic, high responsibility job.
But I’m also looking at the system as a whole thinking - seriously - we are still doing it this way!?
Here’s the article I was referring to: https://theconversation.com/i-have-been-ground-down-about-50-of-australian-principals-and-other-school-leaders-are-thinking-of-quitting-225671
And if you are someone struggling amongst it all - go follow Meg Durham who shares brilliant information about educator well-being. Her podcast would be well worth a listen for those feeling burnt out.
I would love to know your thoughts on this.
I don’t think of myself as radical, in any sense, so if I am looking at alternatives and questioning school for at least one of my kids - I know I’m not alone.
